In contrast to the majority of those throughout human history who faced a dearth information, our generation finds itself with a glut of information. We are living in a world full of excitement where rapidly and quickly changing situations can be disorienting and confusing. Seemingly contradictory information can be found all around us.
Fortunately, we have the necessary tools to transcend these changes. We all have a vision of the world and it is this vision that provides us some stability as we interpret the changing world around us. Philosophy and religion overlap in that they both strive to address the “big questions”, whose answers make up our framework for how we interpret the world. These are the questions you can’t find the answer to in an encyclopedia, almanac, or even a wikipedia:
Why are we here?
Do we have a purpose?
If so, what is it?
How should we act?
What is the world around us really like?
Recognizing the creation of our framework from which to interpret the world around us is one of the ideas behind this project. Using the varying fields of philosophy and theology, we are seeking not necessarily to provide more information about the world around us, but rather a new way of seeing the world around us. A new way of understanding the information that is provided by the world around us. Ultimately, the theologian and the philosopher both are driven to investigate the deeper realities of our existence.
Every person comes from a unique background and brings their own ideas and prejudices to their worldview, but ultimately we are all are driven by the same pursuit of discovering reality. The main idea of this project, Philosopher & Priest, is to provide an arena to investigate a new way of looking at our reality. Both the philosopher and the priest have significant roles in shaping the world in which we live. Not all philosophers or priests have the same vision with which to see the world, but the goal of this project is to provide you with two particular visions. The hope is that this project encourages a deeper understanding of the world in which we live by those who live in it with us.
In that vein, we hope you will join us and participate with us as we move further along in our own journey. Click here to continue to our posts.
